Two Topps releases land on Wednesday, Oct 21, 2026: 2026 Topps Holiday Baseball and 2026 Topps Heritage Football (hobby and value boxes). Both sold out on Topps.com during pre-orders, and some hobby retailers are now asking far more. Here's what each box is, what Topps charged, what we saw elsewhere on Oct 18, and how to buy without overpaying.

The set is a 200-card base on a holiday version of the flagship Topps design. Fanatics' product description highlights returning Hidden Elf cards (a tiny elf tucked somewhere on the card), Making the NICE List die-cuts, and new Metallic Gingerbread Man and Snow Days parallels.

If you missed Topps.com, Fanatics was still taking reservations at the same $44.99 tin price when we checked, with a later ship date. That beats paying a presell markup.

2026 Topps Heritage Football: what's different

Heritage Football is back for the first time since the 2015 NFL season (Checklist Insider). It uses the 1976 Topps Football design, the year of Walter Payton's rookie card. Topps' product page says the set pairs a 1976-style base set with returning Heritage favorites like League Leaders and Real One Autographs, plus new All-Pro Series (a nod to the 1976 Wonder Bread set) and The Expansion inserts.

The chase: Checklist Insider's checklist lists a 400-card base set (plus Chrome versions), 34 1976 Topps Walter Payton rookie redemptions (graded PSA 6 to PSA 10) and five Walter Payton cut signature 1/1s. Dave & Adam's lists Fernando Mendoza, Jeremiyah Love, Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson and Caleb Downs among the key rookies.

Heritage Football prices we saw (Oct 18)

  • Topps.com: hobby, mega and value boxes all showed Sold out. Limit 6 per cart; payment captured at checkout; all sales final.
  • Dave & Adam's: hobby box presell $254.95, about 96% over Topps' $129.99.

That gap is the whole story for Heritage: if you didn't get a Topps pre-order, the hobby box is already trading near double. If you just want to rip the 1976 design, the $24.99 value blaster (Oct 21) and $49.99 mega box (Nov 4) are the cheaper ways in, at whatever price your store actually charges.

Topps calls 2026 Holiday Football "A debut release." Its collector guide (Oct 9) describes a 200-card base set "including 150 veterans and 50 rookies," led by Fernando Mendoza (via RookieDesk). Topps' calendar shows Fri, Oct 23 at 1 PM ET.

How to buy sports card releases the legit way

  • Know pre-order vs release. Oct 19's Pro Debut and Chrome Football dates are pre-order openings, not ship dates (RookieDesk).
  • Price-check against Topps. Topps' own presale price is your "list." Anything above it is a markup, whether it's a big hobby site or a local shop.
  • Read the limits and return rules. Topps and Fanatics both say sealed card sales are final or non-returnable. Fanatics caps Holiday Baseball tins at 8 per household.
  • Ask your local card shop. Shops set their own allocation and pricing; ask before release day.
  • One account, no tools. Use your own account on each site and buy by hand. HotDropStock never covers bots or checkout automation.
  • Re-check in release week. Topps' calendar says dates are subject to change; this fall Topps already moved Flagship Basketball (Oct 22 to Nov 5) and Museum Collection (Oct 7 to Nov 11), per RookieDesk.
